When founder Robert "Bob" Whittle shared this philosophy in the 1960s, he laid down a blueprint that still guides Niehaus Building Services today.
This simple conviction is what helped a single-trade plastering outfit evolve through three generations of family leadership into a premier, comprehensive General Contractor.
When the construction industry shifted from traditional plaster walls to simpler drywall sheets, that original builder mindset allowed us to pivot seamlessly, rebranding the company to Niehaus Interiors during that pivotal decade.
In the years that followed, Jack Whittle expanded upon that vision by pioneering complete commercial interior build-outs across the St. Louis region. Under his second-generation leadership, the company carved out a strong position in the interior market by introducing movable partitions and turnkey door and hardware packages.
By the mid-1970s, as St. Louis pushed for taller, bigger commercial buildings, Jack scaled the interior division over the next three decades, bringing on more staff in 1978 to match the city's growth.
In 2014, Jake Whittle took over as the third-generation leader. Today, under his direction, our team continues to combine historic pride with modern project management, such as:
